Fire is a very real threat in domestic and commercial kitchens, so it is vital to have a fire blanket installed in any kitchen. Fire blankets are designed to smother cooking oil and fat fires, with larger models suitable to be used on clothing fires by rolling the victim up in the blanket.

Where to store a fire blanket
Fire blankets can be used to extinguish small fires in the home, caravan, boat or garage. A fire blanket should be readily available nearby to where a fire is likely to occur, but not too close that it would be inaccessible in the case of an incident.
Does my home or business need a fire blanket?
A fire blanket should be kept anywhere cooking is taking place whether it be commercial kitchen, a home economics room, a canteen or a food truck. Even in non-kitchen environments that flammable liquids and oils are dealt with can benefit from having a fire blanket installed.
Fire blanket maintenance and inspection
Once you have the fire blanket installed in the correct area, you need to maintain it with regular fire blanket inspections. It should be inspected regularly for any deterioration or damage to the blanket and that it is folded correctly for use.
